Travelling in France; Le Tréport

What here follows is a brief summary of my recent travel to France.

I ride a motorcycle, it’s a Honda VFR800 and it’s been built in 2000:

Me and my girlfriend departed on 17th of august 2009 on our motorcycle from our hometown in Belgium. Our first stop was situated in France; Calais.

We took a break there to have lunch on the beach. We could see the white cliffs of Dover real well because the weather was very nice. It was an awesome moment.
From there on we drove through Sangatte and took stops at le Cap Blanc Nez and le Cap Griz Nez. That was totally worth our while. Basically there enormous cliffs from which you have a great view.

We then made our way toward Boulogne s/m and got a little lost there. Quickly we got back on track and made our way to our destination Le Tréport. Oh yeah, we took a break in Berck where we had a drink in a local pub. Let me tell you boy that place was nasty. It’s a French thing to have nasty pubs i think.

At our destination my girlfriend’s relatives already had arrived and prepared dinner. It’s true; we’re lucky bastards.

The next day we went to visit St. Valery sur Somme; that’s the place where the river the Somme flows into the North Sea. Around that river some serious fighting occured during the first world war. Allthough that’s not a rare thing in Europe.

We made visits to Dieppe where we witnessed the 60th anniversary  of the raid on Dieppe by the Canadian forces; that was in a war against the Germans again.
After we nearly had melted away under the hot afternoon sun we left for Fécamp. This is also a nice city along the North Sea with a nice port. We went to taste the famous Bénédictine liquor.

And that was nearly the end of our short but nice trip.

The next day we drove back with our noses in the direction of Belgium.

So if you’re ever around, i can totally tell you those places are worth a visit!

Why we work

I just came back from holliday today. I went to France on my motorcycle! It was a fun and relaxing vacation and as i sat there one night i had a revelation. It’s not so clear anymore as i type it at this moment but i’ll try to share it with you.

In essence we, people, are a hard working species and it seems to me that i tend to forget why we work, why we get up early in the morning and spend our entire day in a dull office. At least, i forget it alot.

I like to think myself as a little, less significant, gear in a great machine. The reason why this machine works is less significant then me, the insignificant gear. I think the machine works to enable me to do the things i like, or the things we like. Obviously in most cases i work also to enable my superiors to do the things they like; nice for them but sucks for me.

So here’s my list of things i work for:

  • living in a nice place with plenty of everything; food, drink, internet,..
  • saving money for the future; i might buy a house someday
  • travelling; i have to walk to world! Or rather, ride on it with my motorcycle.
  • being able to make choices in life

So, i have vowed to from now on work more for myself and my personal development. This means, basically, spending more time writing this blog and doing more freelance work. Yes, i even hope to start a business myself someday. Heck! I might even write a piece of software to share with you!

So, why do you work?
